Process interlocking is a long used principle to guide the operator safely through an operating sequence. Once the proper steps have been identified NETHERLOCKS will supply mechanical interlocks that can be operated by means of a
linear key.
Within process operating mostly valves are part of the sequence and NETHERLOCKS has a several
standard locking devices to lock all types and size of valves e.g. ball valve, gate valve, globe valve, needle valve, plug valve, etc… Beside valve locks NETHERLOCKS also manufactures locks for
switches,
MOV,
closure doors, hatches etc…
Every safety procedure is unique; we will always provide a custom -made solution to guarantee a proper science of operation.
Interlocking principle
An interlock guides the operator through the sequence with
unique keys for each step. It is only when a mistake is made that the operator will not be allowed to proceed – a key will not fit or a valve will be locked in position.
The principle of mechanical key interlocking is the transfer of keys. Each lock is executed with two keys, 1 for the locked open position and one for the locked closed position. When the valve is open the “open key can be released and transferred to another lock with the same code. All keys are unique and depending on the sequence NETHERLOCKS will determine the codes to guarantee the required sequence.
